Position Details

DTF is looking to fill a full time on-going VPS 5 role as an Senior Accounting Technical Analyst.

The Financial Reporting Group is responsible for managing the preparation and delivery of the financial reporting aspects of key Department of Treasury and Finance products including the annual Budget Papers, Annual Financial Report for the State of Victoria and other interim financial reports across the year. The Financial Reporting Group is also responsible for the development and maintenance of a best-practice financial reporting framework, and whole-of-state financial information management systems, supporting financial reporting across the Victorian public sector.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • drive best practice quality assurance of the department's products and publications through coordinating Independent Quality Assurance (IQA) processes; 
  • contribute to the maintenance of accounting and financial reporting policy frameworks and standards that support robust financial management and reporting practices across the 

Victorian Public Sector;

  • have excellent accounting experience to be relied on for advice on accounting and financial reporting issues and can provide options for discussion and consideration;
  • provide leadership and guidance to Victorian public sector entities in the application of accounting standards, financial reporting policies and practices;
  • actively support and contribute to organisational goals, demonstrate organisational values and behaviours, and a commitment to personal and professional development. This includes working co-operatively with other teams and supporting the manager of the team to ensure appropriate management of staff and allocation of effort and resources.
