Position Details

Systems Management Librarian

SSP is looking to fill a full time, ongoing, VPS 4 role of Systems Management Librarian within the Victorian Government Library Service. This poison is located in Werribee and various locations as required

In this role you will:

• Develop and maintain the ongoing operation of the Victorian Government Library Service (VGLS) integrated library management system and other systems as required for the efficient delivery of VGLS services.

• Provide leadership, information technology direction, support and strategic focus with regard to delivering a contemporary library service.

• Manage and lead a systems team to deliver streamlined access to library resources including maintaining electronic access to resources.

• Identify and recommend emerging technologies critical to the design and delivery of responsive library services.

• Plan and co-ordinate training and lead the development of a communications program to support library users.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrated current experience and expertise in the management, delivery and implementation of information library management systems including service planning, project and financial management, ongoing maintenance programs and IT project implementation experience.

• Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills with a proven track record in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers, peers and stakeholders.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present succinct and timely reports, project plans and technical specifications to ensure successful project delivery.

• Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment, with a willingness to communicate and share information, as well as the ability to empower team members.

• Highly developed problem solving, research and analytical skills with an ability to provide sound, relevant and timely advice to clients and senior management on Library system issues including access and client authentication

Experience and qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of integrated Library management systems (including SirsiDynix library management system).

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline are desirable.
