Position Details

We are a relatively small government department that plays a central and influential role working on varied and challenging issues from climate change to competition policy.  Our staff work on leading edge economic, financial and resource management policy, as they strive to achieve our common purpose of improving the lives of all Victorians.

Our People and Culture team are on an exciting journey, we're looking at ways to enhance our current service delivery, improve our processes, build on our existing initiatives and develop new initiatives that will support our strategic goals.

If you are comfortable with change, ambiguity and competing demands you'll enjoy working in our team.  You must be outcome focussed, personable and collaborative.  You will be successful in this role if you have generalist experience across the spectrum of Human Resources, are self-motivated and willing to turn your hand to any task both big and small.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level analysis, expert advice and support to departmental people managers and staff on employee relations, industrial relations, grievances , change management and other employee relationship matters, which may include advice on relevant policy/practices, legislation and the Victorian Public Service Agreement;
  • Develop, deliver, manage, advise on and support a range of other people management functions  which may include performance management, workforce planning, policy development and implementation, capability development and reporting;
  • Together with other People and Culture staff, provide guidance, advice and direct services to people managers and staff in a broad range of HR and organisational development areas, including people management, HR processes, culture and behaviour change, capability building and change management;
  • Build and maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders to become a trusted advisor on people and culture issues within the department; and
  • Support and contribute to the work of the broader People and Culture team  to achieve team and broader divisional goals.
