Position Details

An exciting opportunity exists for an Executive Officer Director, Technical Advisory in the Office of Projects Victoria (OPV) within the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF).

Office of Projects Victoria (OPV) is an Administrative Office within the Department of Treasury and Finance. OPV plays a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects in Victoria. Our purpose is to lead and influence excellence in project delivery to maximise value for all Victorians. OPV has four strategic outcomes:

  • Assurance through project portfolio monitoring and oversight;
  • Project system wide improvements including developing the skills and capability that project teams and leaders need to succeed;
  • Improved project outcomes through independent advisory; and
  • Advancing the role of Engineering within government.

Duties of this role include leading initiatives and providing high quality policy advice to the Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer, and other executives of the Office of Projects Victoria and DTF. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, policy, analytical and communication skills, allied with an ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • Extensive public or private sector experience in planning, design and management of complex infrastructure projects in delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of technical standards as they apply to public sector infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and design issues through all phases of the infrastructure project lifecycle.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and an ability to summarise and depict complex issues, options and solutions effectively to senior decision makers.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a proven track record in effectively managing complex and ambiguous situations and/or negotiations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including working to senior executives.
