Position Details

About the role:

Security, Information and Privacy Division is responsible for the strategic direction of privacy, protective data security, governance of protective data security processes and provision of advice and effective stewardship and promotion of privacy and protective data security across the organisation. The Senior Instructor is responsible for conducting, coordinating and facilitating all face to face and online training including at the Academy and organisation wide for the following areas including security legislation and policy, privacy and Information sharing, current security threats and security Incidents, physical security, information management and protective markings, IT/cyber security and limited social media (risk awareness).

Your duties will include:

  • Conduct Information Security, Cyber Security and Protective Security awareness training/information sessions
  • Develop, maintain and/or review Information Security, Protective Security and Cyber Security education and training materials, including online, used and published across Victoria Police to ensure that it is current and contemporary
  • Develop and coordinate the network of Protective Security Portfolio Holders and facilitate regular Community of Practice (COP) sessions
  • Compile, edit, implement and coordinate an Information Security, Cyber Security and Protective Security communications program of activities in line with other education and communication strategies
  • Contribute expertise to the security activities undertaken within the Security Information and Privacy Division specifically and Digital Services and Security Department generally
  • Consult relevant internal and external stakeholders in the development and delivery of education and training
  • As required, conduct, coordinate and/or evaluate surveys and metrics and produce reports and recommendations as to the effectiveness of training, communications and activities

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
