Position Details

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, and as a senior member of Victoria Police Command, this role is responsible for driving reform, leading change and strategic and operational leadership to the delivery of Information Technology Services into Victoria Police.

Having direct accountability for the leadership of multiple teams of more than 120 staff (and growing) and vendor management responsibility for major IT Services Contracts, you will lead the teams responsible for Information Technology projects into a space that contributes to high quality operational policing outcomes and respond to organisation and government policy. As a senior leader, you will motivate and continuously develop a diverse and capable workforce and a strong leadership culture.

A key part of this role includes the implementation of the IT strategy for Victoria Police through leadership of five key domains:

  • Frontline Technology;
  • Intelligence, Investigation and Analysis;
  • Corporate and Regulatory Systems;
  • Group Technology; and
  • Service Integration and Management.


As a well-regarded leader you will have:

  • Proven senior leadership and ability to build and deliver outstanding performance from teams.
  • Widespread demonstrated capacity to lead and deliver a program of operational, business and strategic IT projects, and IT service delivery in a dynamic operating environment.
  • A track record in preparing comprehensive reports, cabinet submissions and briefing papers on complex IT issues and articulate information according to audience needs including Ministers and senior executive leaders.
  • Extensive technical competencies in relation to information technology, management and security.
  • Experience in managing significantly outsourced IT service contracts with a focus on deliverable organisational outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to address business related matters with IT performance.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • A relevant postgraduate tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
  • Position location is at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
