About the role:

The Transit Divisional Support team is located within the Transit Safety Division of the Transit and Public Safety Command. We are seeking a Team Leader (VPS 3) to supervise, guide and develop our Administrative/ Property Officers who will be responsible for the receipt, storage, disposal, and auditing of found and seized property items.

Your duties will include:

  • Coordinate, supervise and develop staff responsible for the central co-ordination of property management for the Transit Safety Division and Public Order Response Team.  (Inclusive of other work units as required)  
  • Coordinate and supervise the undertaking of regular inspections of property assets on hand; ensure proper receipt, recording, movement and storage of property and equipment.
  • Supervise staff and various functions associated with seizure, retention, inspection and disposal of property. 
  • Monitor and maintain records and systems for property, inclusive of performing analysis or reviews to assist with decision making.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated capabilities with an administration team.
  • Able to set priorities, meet deadlines through developed organisational skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.   Strong social and self-awareness with the ability to deal effectively with a range of people and stakeholders  
  • Knowledge or demonstrated capability to upskill in relevant legislation, regulations, policies and processes in order to manager and perform the supervisory functions.
  • Understanding of customer service needs.  Proven record of ethical behaviour, understanding of organisational values and Financial Code of Practice. Requirement to demonstrate ethical behaviour and conduct, align with values and code of practice upon appointment.   

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311-313 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
