Victoria Police's Digital Services and Security Department (DSSD) is creating high-performance teams that will deliver technology solutions to our organisation's more than 22,000 people state-wide.

As the Product Specialist for Infrastructure Managed Services, you have the crucial role to manage our ICT Infrastructure platforms located in our Data Centres and large campus sites, all under existing managed service contracts.

  • You will be the technical escalation point for Infrastructure services, managing issues through to resolution
  • You will provide strategic imperative and technical insights to service providers and stakeholders.
  • You will provide advice, recommendations, and thought leadership on all technical aspects of the service

Your duties will include:

  • Develop and deliver strategy and roadmap for continuous improvement of services.
  • Provide ownership and delivery of IT processes by driving automation and implementing solutions.
  • Develop and maintain reporting metrics, trending analysis and insights.
  • Develop procedures and methodologies for lifecycle management and optimisation.
  • Identify and manage any critical service delivery vulnerabilities and operational risks.
  • Establish, maintain and improve engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reduction in manual effort by automating deployments and configuration updates.
  • Maintain knowledgebase articles and documentation for internal support teams and end users. 


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting infrastructure platforms through managed service contracts.
  • Broad infrastructure knowledge across the networks, servers, hyperconverged and database platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in uplifting processes to utilise modern and best practice capabilities.
  • A strong and diverse background in delivering results in information, communications and digital technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of ICT, vendor and business stakeholders and bring diverse groups together to achieve shared objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the complexity of government to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to a dynamic and rapidly changing environment with flexibility.
  • Resilience and creativity to deal with resistance and identify innovative solutions.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills to articulate a vision and present information in compelling ways.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills together with demonstrated strong written communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in Technology, Business or Engineering disciplines is highly desirable.
  • ITIL certifications and demonstrated understanding are highly regarded.
  • Experience working in an agile and dynamic technology environment.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
