About the role:

The VPS5 Senior Project Officer positions sits within the Operations Division of Family Violence Command (FVC). The Operations Divisions provides support and direction to the Command by:

  • Providing strategic advice on the policing of family violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
  • Provides a systemic understanding of issues, trends and whole of government reform impacting the family violence, sexual offence and child abuses services.
  • Works collaboratively with Family Violence Investigation Units and Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Teams and stakeholders to improve operational responses.

The VPS5 Senior Project Officer position will report to a VPS6 Manager, Project Delivery. As a Senior Project Officer within the Operations Division, you will be required to lead end-to-end project delivery and work with members of the Project Delivery team and across FVC to project documentation including plans, briefs, reports and internal communications. Key stakeholders relevant to the role include:

  • Family Safety Victoria and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH);
  • Department of Justice & Community Safety
  • Magistrates' Court of Victoria; and
  • Family Violence and Sexual Assault support services.

An organisational change is currently being progressed that may result in a change in reporting lines for work unit Project Delivery. Whilst the Position Description will remain unchanged, the successful applicant must be prepared to perform duties across FVC as directed.

Your duties will include:

  • Scoping and planning the sequencing of projects and activities to enable effective implementation.
  • Consultation with internal and external stakeholders to implement new initiatives.
  • Prepare authoritative advice to FVC Executive to inform complex policy decisions and relating to project delivery approaches.
  • Produce and implement project management plans and associated project products.
  • Work with sworn and unsworn members of FVC to support project management capability uplift

As the successful applicant, you will have:

Sound conceptual and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to solve problems and be adaptable to changing priorities.

The role also requires demonstrated expertise or knowledge of the principals and processes of project management methodologies such as PRINCE 2 project management, and delivery of projects through the project lifecycle. Some understanding of policy development processes is also beneficial.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available
  • Position location - Victoria Police Centre. 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
