Position Details

About the role:

As the successful applicant, you will be developing and delivering face-to-face online investigation/intelligence gathering courses which focus on the use of online media. The audience includes both Victoria Public Service employees and Victoria Police members of mixed ranks. You will be required to actively assess students' competency and knowledge of the subject matter. You will be working as part of a small team and will be flexible in the role to assist meeting the unit objectives, in-particular contributing to keeping the course relevant to emerging trends. Some of the training will be conducted in rural locations requiring overnight accommodation and travel.  Whilst not engaged in the delivery of the training you will manage the training development portfolio.

Your duties will include:

  • Reporting of training development, delivery progress and feedback to the Unit 5 manager.
  • Delivery of advanced online searching and investigation planning/considerations modules of the course.
  • Managing the development portfolio which involves proactive stakeholder engagement to enhance course content.
  • Managing the content and driving uptake of an online learning module hosted on the Victoria Police intranet.
  • Conducting research of contemporary online media trends and their impact on Victoria Police.
  • Assisting with the preparation of training materials including managing course logistics.
  • Providing advice to employees regarding online investigation techniques and policy.
  • Participating as part of the broader Unit 5 team in various projects.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of IT equipment used for course training.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in the development and/or delivery of training programs.
  • Experience collecting and disseminating intelligence (desired).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High level stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • A proven ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
  • Effective research and analytical skills.
  • An excellent understanding of online media and the use of technology for investigations (desired).
  • Possess a current Driver Licence for intrastate travel on a semi-regular basis, may also be required to deliver training to regional members.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification and experience in relevant teaching program would be highly desirable.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent is highly desirable or qualify within 12 months.
  • The successful candidate must undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
