Position Details
About the role:
The Victorian Sex Offenders Register was established by legislation in 2004. The register requires registered sex offenders to keep police advised of their whereabouts and other personal details and information, for the period of their registration. The legislation is aimed at reducing re-offending, facilitating the investigation of offences and preventing registered sex offenders working in child related employment.
The team leader within the Sex Offenders Registry is responsible for receiving, allocating, monitoring and reviewing registration and reporting tasks made by registrable offenders in Victoria. The team leader assists in maintaining relevant databases and the coordination of the disclosure of permitted information from the Sex Offenders Register.

Your duties will include:
- Supervise compliance officer staff within the registry ensuring service delivery and standards are met
- Create, maintain and ensure accurate recording of new and currently registered adult sex offenders' data and information on relevant internal and external databases
- Prepare high quality written reports and briefing papers which interpret data or intelligence, and provide results and recommendations through a continuous improvement lens
- Ensure processes and procedures are compliant with relevant regulations, policies and procedures and confidently provide advice or recommendations for remedial action when required
- Validate offender files and information via interrogation of information and data, to proactively identify breaches of the act or risk
- Actively engage with regional investigators to ensure breaches of the act or offender risk are addressed, to ensure consistency of data and completion of all relevant documentation / reporting
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with the team and stakeholders from across the work unit, division, police and work units from across the state to gather information and intelligence to ensure best practice, whilst meeting relevant legislative and policy requirements
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- A proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment including experience in supervising staff and activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proven ability to successfully allocate workloads, maintaining awareness of changing and static priorities
- A demonstrated ability to apply policy to processes, tasks and resources required to achieve personal, team and work unit objectives
- Experience in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive material and information
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical skills with experience in identifying and effectively communicating themes and issues
- Experience or knowledge of the Sex Offenders Registration Act 2004 and associated regulations is highly desirable.
Further Information
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
