Position Details

About the role:

The Project Delivery Division (PDD) provides a project management service to Digital Services and Security Department and coordinates, directs and oversees programmes and projects in order to deliver outcomes and benefits supporting Victoria Police's strategic objectives.

Within the PDD is the Project Management Office (PMO) who provides support, assistance with the delivery of project components, quality assurance on project reporting and project management functions and maintenance of a ‘Centre of Excellence' for project delivery. The PMO also assists in the mobilisation of new projects, including the initiation and establishment of project teams for projects.

The PMO is seeking one (1) Senior Project Officer to support the initiation, delivery and transition of the major   programs and projects to deliver outcomes and benefits supporting Victoria Police's strategic objectives.

The Senior Project Officer will report to the PMO Program Manager and will assist with project assurance, as well as supporting project mobilisation and project delivery.

The role will be diverse, requires flexibility and is likely to undertake a wide variety of work across the division.

Your duties will include:

  • Assist in the recruitment and induction of project teams
  • Maintain the PDD Project Resource Plan
  • Ensure PDD Project standard and guidelines are communicated to Project Managers
  • Conduct regular project assurance reviews to monitor compliance with standards and guidelines
  • Assist Senior Project Managers in the development of initial project schedule and formal acceptance for baselining the project schedules
  • Assist Senior Project Manager/s to develop project budgets
  • Assist Senior Project Manager/s in procurement activities
  • Conduct regular reviews of project controls
  • Oversee project change requests and compliance with process
  • Coordinate Project Status Reporting
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of project control deliverables
  • Provide project support across PDD

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated organisational and project management experience and capability, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes, and actively engage stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously on your own initiative and be self-motivated and driven.
  • Ability to effectively and flexibly operate in a dynamic and fast paced project environment.
  • Superior level communication skills, including the ability to write high quality concise reports, briefs and correspondence.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management expertise, being able to deliver through others and negotiate successful outcomes for difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply relevant legislation, policies, public sector issues and procedures in a complex environment.
  • A relevant tertiary education would be desirable.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
