Position Details

As Senior Information Officer you will be part of a team who are working in the relatively newly established Inter-Agency Information Sharing Service at Victoria Police. The service is responsible for responding to Family Violence and Child Information Sharing requests for information to a wide range of agencies who are working in the family violence and child protection sector. The Service also manages the Reportable Conduct and Redress Schemes on behalf of Victoria Police.

Your duties will include:

  • Assessing the validity of Requests for Information (RFI) against legislative criteria  
  • Accessing data bases, identifying, and extracting information relevant to the RFI
  • Writing professional and articulate information releases on behalf of Victoria Police     
  • Interpreting and applying legislation and guidelines relevant to the Information Sharing Schemes
  • Liaising professionally with external and internal stakeholders and customers

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Well-developed critical thinking skills and sound judgment
  • An understanding of the role government and non-government agencies play in reducing family violence and promoting child safety and wellbeing
  • A collaborative and collegial mindset and the ability to be flexible and customer focussed
  • The ability to adapt to changing and evolving processes and workflow

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) ongoing position
  • Three (3) x full-time, fixed term positions. One fixed term position available until 30 June 2025. One fixed term position available until 2 June 2023, one fixed term position available until 8 September 2023.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
