Position Details

About the role:

Counter Terrorism Command is responsible for the prevention of and response to terrorist events and security emergencies and for the development and maintenance of overall counter terrorism capability across Victoria Police.

As the successful candidate your will work within the Capability Division, Counter Terrorism Command, to drive and deliver projects, policy and coordination activity that will contribute to building the capability of terrorism prevention and response across Victoria. This position reports directly to Superintendent, Capability Division.

Your duties will include:

  • Conduct and manage projects using appropriate research techniques; review and evaluate policy, research, analyse and assess issues and examine the efficiency and effectiveness of practices and procedures.
  • Develop project plans, schedules and other project artefacts
  • Provide the appropriate assessment of projects, strategies and policies which involves complex research and analysis relating to the work of the Command.
  • Governance and policy work relevant to the Command strategic direction and operating environment; which may include ownership of a policy portfolio
  • Develop communication and engagement strategies, plans and materials relevant to capability development.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues within the Command and liaise with internal and external stakeholder representatives to encourage a proactive approach.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Proven experience to undertake complex research in support of projects, strategies or business case development
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proven ability to plan and organise work to produce high quality results
  • Confidence to engage with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels
  • Developed skill to think creatively and identify further opportunities
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, team environment

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
