About the role:

The Property Division is responsible for the capital delivery of Victoria Police's major capital works program. The purpose of the Senior Project Officer position is to provide specialist advice on procurement and programming relevant to a Specialist Facility which is at delivery stage of the project.

The Senior Project Officer (Project Procurement and Scheduling) role includes working in coordination with all Property Division workgroups, as part of the delivery arms of the Division as well as dealing with specialist stakeholders from across the business and other government agencies.

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting the Delivery Manager in the delivery of the new facility.
  • Managing built infrastructure project / program stakeholder engagement and communication including internal user groups, external agencies and authority organisations.
  • Undertaking effective project and program risk management processes.
  • Providing effective project / program financial management, ensuring adherence to cashflow predictions and financial performance against allocated project / program fund lines.
  • Undertaking construction procurement activities for project and program suppliers and ensure procurement practices strictly accord to “public construction”  legislative and governance requirements.
  • Managing supplier contracts, including processing of supplier and other payments in accordance with governance and financial delegation requirements.
  • Provide project/program status reporting as required.
  • Prepare project management documentation in accordance with the Victoria Police built infrastructure project management system.
  • Support the development and improvement of project and program management.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • An understanding of design and construction contracts;
  • Previous experience with working in a fast paced and dynamic organisation;
  • Scheduling and procurement experience within a government environment context;
  • Proficiency in the use MSProject;


Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) fixed term (until 27/11/2020) position currently available.
  • Position will be located at the Victoria Police Centre (VPC), 637 Flinders Street, Docklands. In 2020 the VPC will be relocating to 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
