Position Details

About the role:

The successful applicant will report to and provide administrative support to the unit manager and Investigators.   The Investigation & Response Units are dynamic workplaces with ever changing workflow with competing priorities.   

The Intelligence Support Officer will perform a broad range of office support and computer-based tasks including generation and updating of reports, keyboard and data entry, uploading information, creation of spreadsheets and general correspondence. The ISO will be predominantly using Interpose (VICPOL Database) to create, record and update investigations as well as maintaining spreadsheets. Monthly Snapshot reports will be required by the unit manager.  A portion of the work will involve records relating to Registered Sex Offenders.  Other administrative duties as directed by the unit manager. The ISO will be exposed to confidential and sensitive data and information. The ISO position based at Morwell SOCIT office, involves investigations and exposure to offences of a sexual nature and child abuse themes.

Your duties will include:

  • Data Entry, case file uploading, online report generation and retrieval.
  • Provide advice/coaching to staff in the use of Interpose or other various databases.
  • Preparation and completion of monthly snapshot report.
  • Other correspondence or administrative functions as required by the Station Commander or Crime Investigators
  • Undertake filing, record maintenance, and monitor data management for the unit
  • Answering incoming phone calls and close interaction with investigators regarding data management.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of computer skills as a large part of the role is IT based. 
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to review and interpret information
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with data security, confidentiality, and privacy provisions.
  • High ethical standing.
  • Highly motivated and conduct duties unsupervised.
  • Flexibility to work in various locations as required by management, performing a range of administrative duties

Requirements and relevant information:

  • There is a part time, ongoing position, (30.4 hours per fortnight), 20039823.
  • Position is located at the Morwell SOCIT Complex (31-41 Buckley Street, Morwell); however you may be required to work at other locations within the Division/PSA.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
