About the role:

The Yoorrook Justice Commission has been established as an independent Royal Commission and the first formal Truth-Telling process into historical and ongoing injustices experienced by First Peoples in Victoria. 

The newly established Victoria Police Yoorrook Justice Commission Response is seeking an experienced Senior Policy/ Projects Advisor to provide strategic advice and coordination and review of policies and projects to inform decision-making relating to Yoorrook Justice Commission enquiries.

This role is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways and contribute to the ground-breaking work of Truth, Treaty, Self- Determination and Cultural Rights.  

As the Senior Policy/ Projects Advisor, you will (but not limited to):

  • Prepare high quality written briefings and correspondence.
  • Provide expert strategic advice.
  • Project manage and coordinate strategic input into high quality responses to the Yoorrook Justice Commission.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience in working effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver projects on time.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, ensuring material prepared using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language and contains the information necessary to achieve its purpose and meet audience needs.   

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x fixed term 30/06/2024, full time position. Part-time or other flexible work arrangements including remote working will be considered.
  • Position location is Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
