About the role:
Victoria Police have an exciting opportunity for a professional ICT Infrastructure Manager to manage the ICT Infrastructure Platforms and Services for the organisation state-wide. The Infrastructure Manager role is essential to the continual delivery of highly resilient, flexible, secure and function rich infrastructure services that meet the ever changing and challenging demands of the organisation.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong technical backgrounds in modern Networks, Data Centres and both private and public cloud who are experienced in managing a hybrid operating model of internal specialists and large managed service providers, looking for the next step in their career where -
- You will provide strategic imperative and technical insights
- You will develop and drive the infrastructure product strategy and roadmap for Victoria Police
- You will continually deliver and operate a high level of availability and performance across all Infrastructure levels
- You will provide advice, recommendations, and thought leadership on all technical aspects of the service
- Demonstrated ability to lead a dynamic team and can leverage best practices
- We'll empower you to use your specialist vision to develop and manage your projects
You will be working in a professional, highly dynamic, and established team of senior ICT service professionals and will be regularly exposed to the various disciplines that Victoria Police operates in. You will report to the Head of Infrastructure and Platform Operations Domain, which also encompasses all Modern Workplace and Data Integration platforms.
The operation of all Infrastructure services is delivered through a variety of specialised outsourced service providers, so extensive stakeholder management experience with an ecosystem of consumers, developers and third parties is essential.

Your duties will include:
- Develop and deliver the infrastructure platform roadmap for Victoria Police, including but not limited to -
- Networking (LAN, WAN, SDWAN)
- Enterprise Storage Platforms (SAN, NAS)
- Hyper-converged Infrastructure
- Private & Public Cloud Infrastructure
- Video Management System and mobile camera technologies.
- Understand Operational capabilities of team and partners to ensure all agreed operational KPIs relative to Incident, Change, Problem, Asset Management, audits etc... are followed and continually improved.
- Ensure all service providers consistently comply with standards, with results, risks and compliancy regularly communicated to senior stakeholders.
- Australian Signals Directorate (ASD ISM)
- Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSS)
- International Organization for Standardisation (ISO)
- Lead an internal team of technology specialists, supplemented by specialist vendors, to ensure -
- high customer experience within the agreed service management frameworks is achieved
- continuous improvement programs supporting rapid delivery of business product roadmaps is achieved
- Contribute to thought leadership, and demonstrate technical expertise in infrastructure technologies, cloud platforms, governance, and architecture that supports a continuous SAFe delivery.
- Advocacy and liaison with internal and external stakeholders and consumers of Infrastructure Platforms and Services
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Self-motivated, highly visible and an engaging point of contact, who enjoys working with people
- Demonstrated senior experience working in broad and complex environments.
- Proven experience managing the design and implementation of enterprise strength solutions and services.
- Exceptional communication skills including technical documentation skills and capable of negotiating positive outcomes.
- The ability to embrace change, be adaptable and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- A tertiary qualification or an industry recognised certification in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- Practical and solution-oriented approach to assess new technology, and evaluate and advise on impact, risk and remediation
Further Information:
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification at Negative Vetting Level 1. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
