About the role:

The Victoria Police Custodial Health Service provides health care to people in police custody across Victoria and health advice to police officers and custody officers who have a person in their care or custody. 

Senior Medical Advisors perform a critical role within the Custodial Service, providing a daily medical service to detainees at the Melbourne Custody Centre and a visiting and remote medical service to other Victoria Police facilities.  Working within a multidisciplinary team including Nurse Practitioners, nurses and pharmacists, Senior Medical Advisors provide leadership in patient care and management.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing medical care to persons in police custody
  • Provide clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team regarding patient management
  • Contribute to quality improvement including regular review of policies and procedures and engagement within and external to Victoria Police

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Excellent clinical skills and experience relevant to primary care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full AHPRA registration
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Experience in the care of people with Alcohol and other dug problems, emergency medicine or primary health care

Requirements and relevant information:

  • 1.0 Full time equivalent (FTE) ongoing position available.
  • Salary range is $270,000 to $280,000 p.a. + super
  • Full time and part time applications will be considered.
  • If the position/s is part time, the salary plus superannuation will be pro rata
  • This position is located at the Melbourne Custody Centre, 520 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
  • This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
