About the role:

The successful applicant of this newly created position will join a small intelligence team at the Human Source Management Unit (HSMU) that reports directly to a Senior Analyst Team Leader.

The HSMU not only provides best practise advise in relation to the management of human sources but also has an important role in assessing information in Victoria Police's intelligence holdings. The mission of the HSMU is to ensure that Victoria Police's use of human sources and the information they provide is effective, ethical and justifiable.

The HSMU is looking for a dynamic team player and intrinsically driven to succeed. As an Analyst at the HSMU your role will involve:

  • Supporting work unit, divisional and command imperatives, and reporting.
  • Supporting work unit functions and responsibilities.
  • Undertaking high quality research and analysis.
  • Identification of trends related to work unit functions, responsibilities, and priorities.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other intelligence practitioners and work unit stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

  • Proactive monitoring of Victoria Police intelligence holdings and intelligence systems.
  • Assessing and analysing the collection, recording and access of Victoria Police intelligence holdings related to confidential information.
  • Identifying, assessing and analysing intelligence holdings related to human source registrations and human source information.
  • Identifying and escalating potential risks and/or emerging issues regarding Victoria Police's intelligence holdings that relate to confidential information.
  • Assisting in the assessments and processing of assistance requests and reward applications.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Previous experience in intelligence analysis or similar role (highly regarded).
  • Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Well-developed ability to clearly and concisely present findings and advice to a range of stakeholders.
  • Positive and proactive approach to allocated tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Well-developed communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • Initiative and intrinsic drive.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • Four (4) x full-time, ongoing positions available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands. While this position will has a nominated usual place of work, the position may be required to work at other locations, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
  • Positions within Intelligence and Covert Support Command are subject to a high-risk probity check as part of the recruitment process.
  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete and qualify in modules of an approved Intelligence Program as determining by the Command within 18 months.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve, and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
