Position Details

About the role:

Victoria Police is seeking a Project Officer (VPS4) to undertake the role of a Facility Security Officer. Reporting to the Manager Victoria Police Centre (VPC). Co-ordinating the facility security of the Victoria Police Centre, which also supports security systems across Victoria Police facilities state-wide. Ensuring the safety of facilities and the people within.

The role oversees video surveillance, access control, intruder & duress alarms and collaborates with other security stakeholders to ensure the adequacy of the security, detection, use and response.  

The VPC Branch, maintains, services, and secures the Victoria Police Headquarters, the Victoria Police Centre. The VPC is the police headquarters and consists of 96,000sqm of purpose-built specialist facilities and office space across two towers. The site has bespoke security requirements and supports security systems across Victoria Police facilities state-wide.

Your duties will include:

  • Respond and work with people using Victoria Police facilities – our customers.
  • Working with security stakeholders and technicians, identify and resolve security system issues.
  • Subject matter expert on Victoria Police's Facility Security systems and processes.
  • Engage with service providers, and trades to undertake schedule or corrective security works.
  • Tasks as directed by the Manager VPC.
  • Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working as a team to keep Victoria Police facilities operational, safe, and productive.
  • Participate in VPC Security Committees.
  • Assist Facility Managers with facility issues.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Be able to work with people and independently solve issues.
  • Relevant experience in, security, and security systems (including Gallagher, Tecom Challenger, Aritech Web Management System, Genetec VMS) and supporting integrated custom APIs is desirable.
  • Interpersonal skills including negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Project management
  • Experience in delivery of security systems.
  • A strong commitment to Operational Infrastructure Department's strategy goals - supporting our people and embracing customer centricity, innovation, and collaboration in our delivery of services.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve, and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. An existing Negative Vetting Level 1 national security clearance is desirable.
