About us

What is PTV ? It is the single point of contact for you to gain information on Public Transport services, fare, tickets and initiatives. We manage Victoria's train, tram and bus services. Our team develops and nurtures a strong, vibrant culture encouraging innovation to drive a high performing government organisation. We build on the hard work, passion and creativity of our people to promote excellence in our industry, and greater mobility for all Victorians.

PTV helps hundreds of thousands of Victorian's make their way to and from life's events. That may be arriving to work or school, visiting family or friends, attending sporting or entertainment events, whatever it is, WE PLAY A ROLE.

The key purpose of the role

  • Development of constructive working relationships between TFV, operators, delivery agents and other key stakeholders. Develop an understanding of stakeholder perspectives on system safety issues and apply subject matter expertise to influence outcomes through both formal and informal channels
  • Take a leading and pro-active role in ensuring that major projects are providing sufficient assurance that they are managing system safety SFAIRP throughout the project lifecycle stages. This includes review of system safety and related management plans
  • Support assurance activities or other adhoc requests as required by the Technical Safety Manager (including SME advice on audits) both internally and externally (e.g. Operator audits)
  • Review industry date and best practice methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement to PTV's system safety management

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience providing assurance on critical programs and projects including analysis of complex situations and issues to ensure strategies and plans are in place to achieve desired outcomes
  • Proven experience applying system safety assurance in a public transport or hazardous industry context
  • High level conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify and analyse complex issues and risks. Respond to new and emerging issues and implement innovative and robust solutions to achieve strategic outcomes
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of system safety processes and their application in the public transport sector. Including international standards and their application within the Victorian public transport environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision as an authoritative specialist, using initiative to manage own schedule of work and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines, including short notice requests and tasks
  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship management skills in order to manage senior stakeholders from both Government and Franchisees.
