About the role: 

This position is a Fixed-Term, Full-time role for 6 months.

The Senior Technical Analyst is part of the M365 & Platforms Team, which designs and delivers application enhancements, managing production systems and managing incidents and problems using Microsoft cloud services including Microsoft 365, Power Platform and legacy platforms.  

The purpose of the Senior Technical Analyst role is to provide technical analysis services in relation to the Microsoft cloud services platforms and legacy platforms. This includes undertaking requirement gathering, design and configuration on several SaaS platforms, tracking and resolving technical problems, maintaining and updating software, hardware and training materials.

About you:

The Department of Health is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Analyst to support the delivery of reliable, high-quality digital systems that underpin critical health services across Victoria. This role provides analytical, technical and advisory expertise across a range of projects, helping the department optimise systems, strengthen performance and ensure solutions meet operational and policy requirements.

Strong written communication is essential. You will prepare clear and well-structured briefs, reports and technical documentation, ensuring complex information is presented accurately and concisely for diverse audiences. You will use consistent, fit-for-purpose formats to support informed decision-making. Equally important is your verbal communication. You will confidently convey ideas, adapt your approach to suit the audience and use feedback to refine your message. You will navigate sensitive or complex discussions with professionalism and clarity.

You will demonstrate strong planning and organisational capability by setting clear objectives, identifying the tasks and resources required to achieve outcomes, and monitoring progress through effective systems and processes. You will assess potential risks or barriers early and take proactive steps to address them, supporting project teams to deliver on time and to a high standard.

Problem-solving is a central aspect of the role. You will seek the necessary information to understand issues thoroughly, work closely with stakeholders, analyse challenges from multiple perspectives and develop practical, achievable solutions. You will support implementation, evaluate results and adapt approaches to ensure improvements are effective and sustainable.

A systems-thinking mindset will help you identify emerging trends, dependencies and opportunities across the broader health environment. You will understand how systems interact and apply this insight to guide analysis and recommendations that contribute to a more connected and efficient health system.

Mandatory

  • A relevant IT related degree or qualification will be highly advantageous to this role.
  • Certification in PRINCE 2 or other project management methodology is highly desirable.
  • Agile project experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience in large organisation IT environments, including but not limited to supported applications, infrastructure (on premise and cloud), development framework, processes and procedures, etc 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the delivery of and maintaining solutions using M365 capabilities including Configuration Manager, Power Automate, Power Apps and PowerBI. 
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Platform (M365, PowerPlatform, PowerBI, and related Storage, Log and database environment) administration. 
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Azure Active Directory / Entra-ID administration and management 
  • Demonstrated experience in Application Registration (Single sign-on) configuration with Azure Active Directory/Entra-ID
  • Working experience in Legacy Platforms/technologies such as Lotus Notes, Dominos, IBM Forms, Delphi, Visual Basic (VB), VB Script, Microsoft Access is highly desirable.
