Position Details

The Inspection Services Unit is responsible for conducting the VBA's Proactive Inspection Program, Regulatory field monitoring and enforcement activity and the provision of technical advisory services to various internal stakeholders.

Delivering inspection, assessment and reporting of building issues for the VBA's Improving As-built Compliance energy efficiency project you will have the opportunity to deliver frontline compliance inspections for new dwellings. Your extensive technical skills and experience in domestic construction will be a valuable addition to the Unit as you conduct proactive inspections, liaise with the relevant practitioners to ensure compliance with legislation and contribute to delivering the VBA's input into this exciting joint initiative with DELWP.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Current registration as a building inspector – Limited
  • Extensive knowledge of the Building Act and Building Regulations and National Construction Code
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting site inspections in a regulatory environment
  • Qualifications or specialist experience in house energy ratings and energy efficiency will be highly regarded

Salary Details

Base salary in the Band 5 range of $93,867 to $113,572 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
