Position Details

The Inspection Services Unit is responsible for conducting the VBA's Proactive Inspection Program, Regulatory field monitoring and enforcement activity and the provision of technical advisory services to various internal stakeholders.

As Team leader, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of enhanced inspection activity in both the domestic and commercial sectors. Your extensive technical skills and experience will be a valuable addition to the Unit as you design, develop and implement procedures and resource planning to drive continuous improvement of the proactive inspection program. Your demonstrated experience in government and private sector enforcement will provide crucial guidance and support to a team of building and plumbing inspectors to deliver a quality, risk-based field inspections regime; liaise with relevant practitioners to ensure compliance with legislation and contribute to delivering the VBA's monitoring and enforcement objectives across Victoria.

Substantial industry experience in all areas of construction will be highly regarded along with demonstrated organisational leadership experience.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Qualifications in building surveying or other relevant technical field
  • Extensive knowledge of the Building Act and Building Regulations and National Construction Code
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams to achieve outputs within a customer service focused environment
  • Current registration as a Building Surveyor – Unlimited is required (registration in the category of Building Surveyor – Limited will be considered)

Salary Details

Base salary in the Grade 6.1 range of $115,136 to $134,607 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
