EMV has an incredible opportunity for an experienced and highly capable communications professional to join a dynamic cross functional and multi-disciplinary communication team.

The Senior Media and Communications coordinates and influences media and communication engagement, plans, issues and opportunities for the EMC, EMV and across the sector.

The key responsibilities for this role will include:


  • In conjunction with EMV GM Community, Communications and Media, manage high level complex media issues on behalf of the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC) and across the Emergency Management sector.
  • Consult and advise key stakeholders on media issues, promotional opportunities, campaign plans and as part of this, liaise with statutory entities, government departments and agencies.
  • Research and oversee the preparation of all communication materials, including media releases, strategies, briefing notes, publications, website content, speeches, internal and stakeholder presentations
  • Develop and provide high-level advice on communication strategies and plans including around proactive media opportunities for the EMC, EMV and the sector.


About You

This is a critical role and will suit someone who has a strong media and stakeholder background with experience in providing information to community in a critical time period and an understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
