About Public Transport Victoria (PTV)

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is a statutory authority that acts as a system authority for all public transport and an advocate for public transport users. We are a single contact point for customers wanting information on public transport services, fares, tickets and initiatives. PTV aims to improve public transport in Victoria by ensuring better coordination between modes, facilitating expansions to the network, auditing public transport assets, promoting public transport as an alternative to the car.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Director, Inclusive Public Transport to create and an inclusive and accessible public transport network in Victoria. The role comprises managing a small team to ensure:

  • PTV provides consistent, proactive and effective input to major projects, operators' plans, PTV staff and business cases all embed consideration of how to improve accessibility to public transport for people who experience, or may experience, transport disadvantage.
  • PTV is accurate and responsive in working with partner government (state and federal agencies)
  • PTV is well organised and consistent in developing its advice and positions
  • PTV is represented at a state and federal level, influencing policy and procedure, as required
  • Accessibility issues are defended at human rights conciliations and court/tribunal hearings, as required

 Essential (must have to be considered for the position)

  • Demonstrated high level ability to interpret complex strategic and government policy frameworks and plans, in order to develop new initiatives and advise senior stakeholders based on an expert knowledge of public transport and accessibility/inclusion issues.
  • High level ability to develop and maintain professional networks in order to monitor the environment and create effective strategic responses to emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing accessibility projects and developing new project initiatives, addressing issues strategically and delegating effectively to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in compliance in accessibility standards such as DSAPT, DDA, building codes and Australian standards.



  • A tertiary qualification or proven extensive experience in social science, engineering, planning or related field.
  • High level experience in people management, project assurance and risk management
