Strategic Planning Officer

About the Role:

The role assesses and responds to referred strategic planning applications from local governments in the region ensuring relevant planning referrals are responded to in a timely manner and consistently address key environmental risks and opportunities. The role works collaboratively with internal EPA experts to shape the environmental future through the provision of advice and expertise to planning bodies including Victorian Planning Authority.

To be Successful in this Role:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree in environmental management, planning or equivalent work experience (Mandatory)
  • Post graduate qualifications in environmental management, town or regional planning or regional development (Desirable)
  • Experience in Urban, town, regional or land-use planning
  • Teamwork, Strategic thinking, Policy and Projects
  • Good understanding of the state planning system, Victorian Planning Provisions, Planning and Environment and EES legislation, planning referral system, land use planning and environment protection in Victoria
  • Demonstrated experience in Planning Panels Victoria matters
  • An understanding of VCAT proceedings
