Position Details

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer:

  • This is an ongoing/full-time role for an experienced Data Engineer in the Data Engineering Hub, a small, high performance delivery team.
  • The Data Engineering Hub is responsible for delivering priority enhancements and improvements on Microsoft data platform that underpin the performance of EPAs regulatory functions.
  • You will develop and oversee the delivery of data engineering, data warehousing, and data management solutions; aligned to support EPA's strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
  • Immediate start.

The Data Engineer role is a member of the Data Engineering team reporting to the Data Engineering Hub Lead and will:

    • Be responsible for delivering high priority enhancements and improvements to digital enabled solutions, business processes and overall capability.
    • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining EPA's Azure Data platform which ingest data from a variety of transactional systems across EPA primarily Dynamics CRM and ensuring their availability for reporting.

    • Provide on-going data services to the organisation in the design and build of solutions for data acquisition and ingestion, warehousing, architecture, and engineering, based on requirements. This will also include defect resolution, backlog management, guidance and training development, system administration.

    • Improve and and maintain EPA's Data platform to ensure the integrity and correctness of the data.       
    • Support the team to identify enterprise needs in the EPA Data platform.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will possess the following attributes:

  • Purpose driven and relishing a challenge, you have a passion for data management and digital technologies.
  • Strong experience in Azure Data Services and all associated tools like Azure Data Factory, SQL Db, BLOB storage, fileshares and Databricks. (Other skills like Python, R, Power BI will be viewed favourably.)
  • Ability to identify, understand and utilise new technology relating to the Azure Data stack and learn new information systems which support the ability to deliver solutions in the EPA Data Platform.
  • Proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
  • A high performer with contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in Azure Data Services, contributing to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria.
