Position Details

An exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer:

  • This is an ongoing/full-time role for an experienced DevOps Engineer in the Data Engineering Hub, a small, high performance delivery team
  • The Data Engineering Hub is responsible for delivering priority enhancements and improvements on Microsoft data platform that underpin the performance of EPAs regulatory functions
  • You will oversee and manage the code releases, combining an understanding of both data engineering and coding management in the the delivery of data engineering, data warehousing, and data management solutions; aligned to support EPA's strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste
  • Immediate start

The DevOps Engineer role is a senior member of the Data Engineering team reporting to the Data Engineering Hub Lead and will:

  • Be responsible for delivering high priority enhancements and improvements to digital enabled solutions, business processes and overall capability
  • work with developers from the Regulatory Services and Data Engineering Hubs to oversee and manage code releases, combining an understanding of both process/data engineering and coding principles
  • Improve and and maintain EPA's DevOps environment data to ensure the integrity and correctness of code deployment from the lower environment to the production environment
  • Provide ongoing code releases/management support to the organization, including but not limited to defect resolution, backlog management, guidance and training development, system administration
  • Support the team to identify enterprise needs in the DevOps space
  • A high performer with contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in both Azure DevOps and Microsoft Azure Data Services, contributing to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria

About You:

To be successful in this role you will possess the following attributes:

  • Purpose driven and relishing a challenge, you have a passion for applying your strong working knowledge of the developmental disciplines and software development life cycle methodologies to act as the fulcrum between development and operational teams; and form the foundation of the DevOps environment

  • Strong experience in Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, other CI/CD tools and branching policies configuration

  • Ability to apply your knowledge and understanding of typical operational landscapes and the challenges faced by them; in the EPA landscape and environment context

  • Ability to identify, understand and utilise new technology relating to Azure DevOps and learn new information systems which support the ability to deliver solutions

  • Proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture
