We're an independent statutory authority, established in 1971 and have undergone the biggest transformation in our history with the Environment Protection Act 2017 coming into effect on 1 July 2021.  The new Act requires us to change our approach to become a world class regulator, using new powers and tools to prevents risk to the environment and human health.

About the role

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, Officers for the Protection of the Local Environment, the Project Coordinator, Officers for the Protection of the Local Environment is a statewide role responsible for working closely with local governments and EPA regional operations teams to co-design a refreshed Officers for Protection of the Local Environment (OPLE) Program that optimises impact across the state in addressing small to medium scale illegal dumping, litter, noise, dust and odour issues. You will oversee and deliver a project aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

This is an exciting role for a project manager that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working under broad direction of the Program Coordinator, Officers for the Protection of the Local Environment, you will contribute to a positive organisational culture, ensuring that the highest standards of performance and integrity are achieved; and fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to support the delivery organisational outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience and a record of achievement in project management and delivery.
  • Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
  • Knowledge of local government is desirable
  • A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
