About the role
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ‘special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
The OPLE role focuses on decreasing the environmental and amenity impacts of lower risk and lower complexity waste and pollution issues in Victoria. OPLE's work alongside EPA and local government in addressing illegal dumping, litter, noise, dust, odour and illegal chemical and waste stockpiling from small-to-medium business and industry.
Duties
1. Building capability and relationships with local government and EPA.
2. Responding to small-to-medium scale pollution reports.
3. Building and maintaining community perceptions about EPA and local government in responding to small scale pollution.
4. Ensuring industry compliance with their environmental obligations.
5. Increase proactive, preventative, and strategic measures to prevent pollution.
Skills and experience
• Effective stakeholder management experience
• Knowledge of contemporary techniques for the conduct of proactive and reactive investigations
• Demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver projects/programs
• Ability to work independently with remote supervision
• A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
