About the role

A Senior Environment Protection Officer is a member of a team responsible for EPA's on-ground regulatory response in the region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing complex non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action.

You will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in delivering frontline regulatory operations, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

Duties

  • Deliver proactive, intelligence-led investigations in the south-west region (requires travel and overnight stays)
  • Respond to reports of environmental and public health incidents and emergencies
  • Collaborate across EPA and with co-regulators to drive improved environmental and public health outcomes
  • Represent the EPA positively in engaging with the community and duty holders to build knowledge and awareness of relevant laws

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a sound understanding of environmental issues and environmental regulations, preferably supported by formal qualifications in a relevant field. You will be a team player with an ability to deliver set work within agreed timeframes and quality standards. You will have a desire to continuously learn and contribute to a continuous improvement culture. You will be available for travel throughout South West Victoria.
