An exciting opportunity to get in at ground level in EPA Victoria as a Permissioning Officer within our Strategy Division

What do Permissioning Officers do:

In consultation with Science Division, Operations Division and Legal Branch they assess and determine applications under the Environment Protection Act 2017 and Regulations for:

  • development licences or pilot project licences that authorise capital works and the commissioning of a plant or premises
  • operating licences, permits or exemptions that authorise a prescribed permission activity
  • designations for waste classification
  • complex emergency authorisation applications
  • accredited consignor appointments

Support the periodic review of licences, improvements projects, and the maintenance of EPA's permission condition library.


All assessments and decisions must ensure that permission conditions set appropriate controls in preventing harm to human health and the environment from pollution and waste; support the facilitation of conferences of interested persons as required for development licence applications, or appropriate consultation in consideration of the Charter of Consultation and other legislative provisions.
