Position Details

This position will work closely with the Team Leader and the wider unit by providing and sourcing expert advice on risks to environmental public health as it relates to EPA's role. They develop and maintain expert networks and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and will work with a wide range of decision-makers and experts across EPA and our partner agencies on improved environmental public health outcomes for the Victorian community.

  • Providing advice on current and future environmental public health risks, issues and opportunities that EPA should consider in undertaking its activities and working with partners.
  • Building strong networks and working relationships with relevant environmental and health agencies and experts to support EPA's activities and role.
  • Supporting negotiations and collaborations with stakeholders and peers, with the objective of gaining cooperation, influencing views and meeting shared outcomes.
  • Identifying and raising major risks and improvements for environmental public health impacts that EPA should consider in undertaking its activities and working with partners.
  • Maintaining environmental public health knowledge on current international guidance, standards and processes.
  • Assisting and leading the environmental public health component of incident response.

What you need:

  • Significant experience in environmental public practice and/or administering public health regulatory frameworks and policy.
  • Proven ability to review Tier 2 risk assessment reports and interpret raw environmental data.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience and knowledge of the Environmental Public Health sector and current issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience on effectively communicating health risks to a range of different audiences.
