Senior Applied Scientist - Contaminated Environments

About the Role:

The position is in EPA's Environmental Solutions Unit, which understands the environment and communicates impacts on the five environmental outcomes (Air, Noise, Odour, Contaminated Environments and Water) as well as providing technical and other solutions to pollution problems, including pollution prevention.

This role will be a key senior contaminated land expert providing scientific and technical input on complex land and groundwater issues and will support work for a major reform project. This position contributes to EPA by delivering specialist applied sciences advice to make decisions about a range of complex environmental issues and technical solutions.

To be Successful in this Role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in a field related to contaminated land and groundwater impact and/or management
  • Demonstrated contaminated environments and groundwater expertise, environmental risk assessments
  • High level ability to communicate scientific/technical information on contaminated environments and groundwater to stakeholders
  • Experience in the development and delivery of new and emerging environmental and remediation technologies and solutions for environmental problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders
