Position Details

Environment Protection Officer | Location: South West Region, Geelong

The role

This role is critical to EPA operating as both a regulator and influential authority and is often the most direct experience the public have with EPA.

You will be required to inspect business and premises, investigate environmental pollution incidents, prevent and respond to harm. You will work alongside your collegues to equipp community and business by providing guidance and advice about how to comply with the Environment Protection Act. This role may be required to provide support in locations across the state. You may participate in an afterhours emergency incident response role by agreement.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A commitment to EPA's aim of protecting the environment
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders when analysing and resolving compliance issues
  • An understanding of environmental management, regulation, law and common industry practices, risks and controls
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with excellent customer service
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive, private and confidential information
  • Degree in science, law, engineering or equivalent qualification. Industry experience will also be considered
