Position Details

  • Lead the development and maintenance of policy, standards and regulation
  • Leadership of approx. 40 staff
  • EO3 Band $182,070 to $236,069 TRP

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Regulatory Standards, Assessments and Permissioning, you will lead the development and maintenance of policy, standards and regulation that supports the vision for environment protection and public health established by EPA and the Victorian Government. A key focus will be leading development of regulatory instruments required to support new environmental protection legislation delivered in response to the EPA Inquiry. The role requires strong collaboration and engagement, within EPA, across Government and with external stakeholders.

The role must ensure that policy development is risk based and underpinned by sound science and evidence. A key focus of the Unit over the coming years will be leading the development of regulatory instruments required to support planned new environmental protection legislation consistent with the Government response to the EPA Inquiry.

You will drive organisational excellence by providing authoritative and influential leadership, ensuring the development of robust environmental standards and influencing and developing policy and legislative reform across the State and Federal governments.

The role requires exceptional leadership skills and strategic thinking capability to lead the development of world class policy, standards and regulation. You will be an agile and resilient individual who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  You will lead, manage and advise on a broad range of policy and regulation matters using outstanding communication, negotiation and consultation skills.

 Formal qualifications and relevant experience is desirable.
