Position Details

Senior Industry Guidance Officer

- Fixed Term, Full time until 30 June 2019

- VPS 5.1 $92,253 – $101,935 per annum plus superannuation

- Carlton Location

The Industry Guidance Unit supports the transition to an Environment Protection Act with a general preventative duty by providing guidance to industry and clarifying expectations for elimination or minimisation of harm to the environment and human health.

The Senior Industry Guidance Officer will work collaboratively with industry, technical experts, and other internal and external stakeholders to co-design guidance that supports industry understand their environmental obligations. You will work on complex technical projects with multiple-stakeholders, using innovative stakeholder engagement approaches to influence and garner support. You will use your strong project management capabilities to ensure interdependencies are aligned and opportunities are seized.

  • Increased clarity for industry about their environment protection responsibilities and guidance to support them to comply
  • Greater flexibility for industry on how they manage environmental risks
  • A more level playing field for regulated entities to ensure good environmental performance is not undermined

What you need to succeed

  • Significant demonstrated experience in working with stakeholders to develop guidance material or negotiating an outcome
  • Initiative to try new approaches for improved outcomes
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Tertiary qualification in in engineering, applied science, law, communications, business management discipline or equivalent
