Position Details

What we do

The Auditor-General is an independent officer of the Victorian Parliament, supported by around 190 staff, to provide assurance to Parliament and the Victorian community about how effectively public sector agencies are providing services and using public money. We achieve this through an annual program of financial and performance audits of state and local government public sector entities.

What you'll do

You'll coordinate and assist in the conduct and delivery of assigned financial audits and/or Parliamentary reports, ensuring the work is delivered on time and within budget. You'll also presents audit findings, evidence, conclusions and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

You may also periodically be assigned as a team leader on engagements with lower risk profiles.

Who you are

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • Three or more years of external auditing experience
  • A sound understanding of auditing standards and guidelines, audit methodology and processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts in plain English
  • A history of using initiative and sound judgment while managing technical concepts
  • An adaptive and professional approach when creating and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Success in actively motivating and assisting junior team members using a coaching and mentoring approach

Please note that weekday travel around Victoria may be required.

Qualification requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or STEM
  • Full professional membership with CPA Australia, CAANZ or the IPA
