Position Details

About The Role

As an Assistant Manager (VPS5.1), you will be a critical team leader responsible for managing and delivering assigned external financial audits and/or Parliamentary reports, managing resources, monitoring the financial audit work, and ensuring the work is delivered on time and within budget. 


As a Manager (VPS5.2), you will also undertake strategic leadership activities including:


  • Establishing and managing stakeholder networks
  • Providing authoritative advice to Senior Leadership and Executive stakeholders in relation to audits and/or Parliamentary reports and reviews
  • Identifying and scoping relevant audit topics


Please note that travel around Victoria may be required for all roles.

About You

Applicants for both value ranges will demonstrate:

  • Experience managing and delivering external financial audits or complex investigations, inquiries or reviews
  • Excellent working knowledge of Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards, legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, Finance or a related field preferably at postgraduate level
  • Full professional membership with CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • Leadership and people management expertise providing support, coaching and mentoring
  • Stakeholder engagement experience, especially a record of influencing change
  • A flexible, collegiate approach that balances rigour and innovation
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, communication and report writing skills

In addition to the above, at the VPS5.2 value range you will also demonstrate:

  • Success in pro-actively identifying improvement opportunities in managing internal and external stakeholder relationship activities and implementing strategies in response
  • The ability to identify emerging threats and opportunities to improve public sector accountability

Qualification Requirements

Candidates for both value ranges must hold:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, Finance or a related field, preferably at a post-graduate level
  • Full professional membership with CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
