The Manager, Timber Harvest Compliance will be responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders accountable for forest policy, legislation and planning, as well as units accountable for forest values such as biodiversity, soils and water. 

The position will lead two teams; i) the Timber Harvest Investigations Team and ii) the Forest Reports team. The Investigations Team undertakes assessments, investigations, enforcement and education to improve the compliance of VicForests planning and operations of timber harvesting. The Forests Report Team manage the interface with stakeholders and industry regarding all forests reports, coordinate systems to oversite and track progress, ensure threatened species assessments and undertake communications. This position will work with these two teams to undertake day to day functions and continue to improve systems, standards and procedures.

If you have an understanding of the processes and levers that apply to government, including legislative frameworks and processes, as well as an understanding of compliance issues from legislative, policy, risk management, strategy and systems development, stakeholder and on-ground delivery perspectives, you are strongly encouraged to apply. A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in science, environmental law, economics, public policy, natural resource, forestry or environmental management, business management or similar would be an advantage. We are seeking applications from those with a sound understanding of sustainable forest / environmental management principles and familiarity with the management and regulatory frameworks for timber harvesting in native forests.

This is a fixed term three-year position. The position location is negotiable at either Traralgon or Heyfield.
