Position Details

About the role: 

Leading a small team of Procurement Officers, the Principal Procurement Team Leader is responsible for driving strong value for money outcomes, leading and providing high level advice and direction with regards to complex general, ICT procurement and funding projects, and associated departmental and Whole of Government policies and strategy initiatives.

With experience in providing complex, strategic, tactical and governance support to departmental buyers to support procurement outcomes, the position is also required to have strong communication and stakeholder management skills required to be solution focused and can identify and drive improvements.

About you:

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Apply excellent commercial acumen to lead and support end-to-end procurement activities, including the provision of expert advice about procurement sourcing approaches and processes, approval frameworks, policies and control gates to internal clients 
  • Review and provide expert advice on policy and guidelines to internal clients and stakeholders with respect to general and ICT procurement and funding planning.
  • Provide expert advice and active assistance with complex evaluation and negotiation processes with stakeholders involved in contracting and procurement activities and negotiations.
  • Undertake a range of people management responsibilities across a small team of Procurement Officers.

Experience in public sector procurement would be highly regarded.
