The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) is the independent statutory authority that administers Victoria's gambling and liquor laws. The opportunity

Reporting to the P&C Officer, this role is responsible for providing payroll and administrative support within the People and Culture (P&C) business unit of the Corporate Services division.

Who we are looking for

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in payroll and will recognise that accuracy and attention to detail is crucial in this area. Ideally you will have worked within government and have experience in VPS payroll and employment conditions. You will enjoy dealing with all types of people and have excellent customer service skills. You will also be able to cope with high volume workload and meeting tight deadlines and timeframes. Knowledge and technical ability in Chris21 or another HR payroll system will be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with the P&C Officer (Payroll & Employment Conditions), provide high level support in the administration & delivery of end to end payroll, employment conditions and general human resources functions for the VCGLR.
  • Process and calculate the various payroll adjustments each pay with accuracy and within the required deadlines including (but not limited to) new contracts, terminations, shift workers' entitlements, higher duties, allowances and deductions; comply with and understand statutory legislative requirements; and assist with the completion of each pay run.
  • Provide authoritative and consultancy advice, guidance and solutions to management and staff on a broad range of human resources issues (particularly as they relate to payroll and employment conditions) with interpretation and application of the current VPS Agreement and related awards & HR legislation.
  • Provision of administrative functions related to human resources and employment conditions, such as maintenance of payroll and personnel files and records, probation administration, data entry, letters, emails, procurement, filing, etc.
