Salary: $138,631 - $162,076 + 12% Superannuation

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Risk and Assurance Manager to provide strategic leadership across health and safety governance, high consequence risk management, assurance, performance reporting, and continuous improvement. This is a senior role with real influence; shaping how health and safety critical risk and the VICSES safety management system is understood, managed, and reported across a large, operationally diverse organisation.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Manager Health and Safety, you will be responsible for driving a mature, compliant and future‑focused health and safety management system. You will lead the organisation's approach to health and safety high consequence risk, assurance and performance, ensuring decision‑makers have clear, credible insights to support informed and risk‑aware decisions.
You will work closely with senior leaders, managers and specialist teams across VICSES, including partnering with the Health and Safety Operational Advisory function to ensure governance and operational safety practices are well integrated.
Key areas of accountability include:
- Leading statewide health and safety risk management, including high‑consequence risk management program
- Strengthening health and safety governance, assurance frameworks and internal reporting
- Overseeing workers compensation, early intervention and performance monitoring
- Driving data‑driven insights, trend analysis and executive‑level reporting
- Leading statewide initiatives that uplift safety maturity, culture and organisational performance
ABOUT YOU:
You are a confident and credible health and safety leader with experience working in complex, high‑risk environments. You bring strong health and safety strategic capability, combined with the ability to influence, collaborate and drive continuous improvement across diverse stakeholders.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in senior health and safety risk, assurance or performance roles
- Strong understanding of contemporary health and safety legislation, governance and systems
- Experience overseeing complex risk profiles, including high‑consequence or psychosocial risks
- Proven ability to interpret data, identify trends and translate insights into action
- Well‑developed communication skills, with experience engaging senior leaders and executives
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to building positive safety culture
