About Public Transport Victoria (PTV)

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is a statutory authority that acts as a system authority for all public transport and an advocate for public transport users. We are a single contact point for customers wanting information on public transport services, fares, tickets and initiatives. Your new role 

In the complex Victorian public transport network, something is always happening.

The Senior Team Leader, Occupations Planning is responsible for facilitating the planning and coordination of all planned disruptions.

You will be responsible for managing the Master Occupation Schedule. You will need to understand impacts to the whole public transport network, identify risks and potential mitigations and manage assurance to readiness.

You will also be required to work collaboratively with a broad range of senior stakeholders, including transport operators, project agencies, government departments and a varied range of functional divisions.  

You must possess excellent project management skills and an ability to identify, articulate and mitigate variable level and volume of risk. You must be able to provide high level consideration and critical thinking to the customer, commercial, contractual and resource implications of the program.

This role requires extremely high attention to detail and a focus on accurate, timely and concise reporting and briefing skills. The incumbent must be able to provide expert and authoritive advice with ability to present, reliably inform and influence executive and senior stakeholders across the transport industry.

Functional responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of an accurate master events schedule which clearly details the timing and methodology of all planned disruption events.
  • Provide high levels of subject matter expertise and detailed analysis to ensure effective decision making and the delivery of a customer focused, coordinated and balanced program of disruptions.
  • Operators and project agencies comply with the requirements defined within PTV's customer and occupations assurance and coordination frameworks.
  • Able to manage complex delivery schedules and ensure delivery of a safe, integrated, efficient and reliable public transport network with an ‘single minded focus' on minimising customer disruption.
  • Chair a broad range of occupation coordination forums and committees with wide range of sector stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships  with a broad range of  stakeholders  including, but not limited to, Local Governemnt and State Government  representatives, events stakeholders, Accredited Transport Operators  and Project Agencies.
  • Ensure all planned disruptions are facilitated with a priority on optimal customer outcomes and act as a customer advocate in all discussions regarding planned disruption.
  • Develop innovative strategies and initiatives to support improved productivity, efficiency and productivity within the context of planning and scheduling activities.  
  • Effective management of staff in the Planned Occupations team to ensure their continued development as part of a high performance team and culture in a manner consistent with the PTV values.         

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated understanding and extensive experience in the planning of public transport operations with a focus on service planning and customer service requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of transport operations and the public transport environment throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria.
  • Possess high level project management and scheduling skills with a particular focus on planning and implementing event related public transport services.
  • Proven ability to collect, monitor, integrate, analyse and evaluate complex information.
  • Demonstrator ability to achieve financial, quality and time related targets for programs and be responsible for meeting services objectives, including financial, quality and time related targets for programs or major projects.

  • Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Transport, Planning or a related discipline or significant relevant experience.
