Position Details

About the role:

The Asset Management and Environment Unit, within the Business Management Services Division of the Operational Infrastructure Department (OID), is responsible for setting the direction and overseeing Victoria Police's compliance and improvement with the Victorian Government's Asset Management and Accountability Framework (AMAF) and other forms of asset management reporting. This position reports directly to the Program Manager, Asset Management and Environment Unit and forms part of the Business Management Services for OID. You will be responsible for administering the planning and strategic function for Victoria Police's asset management requirements, translating organisational vision into longer term strategic asset management plans, that provide Victrola Police with the facilities it requires to deliver efficient, effective policing services to the community.  It involves working with multiple level stakeholders within Victoria Police.

Your duties will include:

  • Translating organisational vision into longer term strategic plans
  • Working with multiple level stakeholders within Victoria Police
  • Assist and advise asset managers in the development, review and update of their asset management plans
  • Provide asset management policy advice, in accordance with AMAF requirements for Victoria Police
  • Develop and lead improvements in asset management practices and processes for Victoria Police.
  • Coordinate the reporting and monitoring for internal and external governance regarding asset management
  • Managing the Asset Assessment Program by collating data about condition, utilisation, functionality, importance, operating maintenance costs, replacement strategy and timeframes
  • Secretariat duties for the Asset Strategy Committee, including the development of agendas and discussion papers, and supporting Departments and Commands to develop Committee briefing papers and presentations
  • Implementation of remedial activities to address AMAF compliance gaps, supporting other Departments and Commands, through development, support and contribution to the Asset Management Improvement Plan

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic asset management, facility management and/or project management processes
  • Ability to interpret legislation, government frameworks and guidelines
  • Proven experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Experience compiling, reviewing and understanding asset management documents
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw insights out of data
  • Excellent research, analytical and report writing skills
  • Able to work independently, using initiative and exercising sound judgment
  • Effective communication, presentation (both written and verbal), negotiation and influencing skills
  • A process driven approach with a high level of organisational, written and interpersonal communication skills, along with excellent time management skills

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
