Position Details

About the role:

This Senior Project Officer role delivers better facility for Victoria Police. Based in Melbourne and working across the state. This role offers a wide range of activities, stakeholders, and challenges relating to police facilities.

The role begins in establishing the Maintenance Contracts. The process, practices, and specification across all the maintenance of Victoria Polices facilities. To manage change and delivered an improved service.

To be a successful candidate, you will need relevant tertiary education, experience in project management, specifications, and contracts. Along with the ability to works with and lead people.

This role reports to the Manager of Maintenance, within the Properties Division.

Your duties will include:

  • Coordinate people, resource, partners, suppliers, and stakeholders for the great execution of multiple projects
  • Deliver projects on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with relevant stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize potential risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties and stakeholders
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs
  • identifying opportunities to improve maintenance and Projects and Programs service delivery
  • Working with senior managers and executive level stakeholders
  • Liaising across government, building-sector including architects, quantity surveyors, developers, planners.
  • Use and continually develop people and technical skills
  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, or related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Project management experience.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Delivery and manage of change experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to identify, assess and effectively manage key risks.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full time ongoing position available.
  • The position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception.
