Position Details

About the role:

As the Executive Advisor you will provide timely high-level specialist and strategic advice to the Assistant Commissioner and Commander on matters of organisational significance, including emerging trends and research in the areas of intelligence and covert policing, risks, policy and legislation development and opportunities for improvement and development of Command.

You will have a strong working relationship with the Assistant Commissioner and Commander, as well as a requirement to work with Divisional Superintendents and Managers on projects and as part of the Command Leadership Team. You will also be required to work and liaise across the organisation and the national intelligence community to enhance the organisation's ability to delivery timely and effective advice.

Your duties will include:

  • management and delivery of projects on behalf of the Assistant Commissioner;
  • positively influencing the operational members, management colleagues, Executive Command, other government agencies and ministers to achieve strategic and operational outcomes;
  • developing briefing reports in respect to highly complex, sensitive and confidential issues, including making recommendations and determining solutions that provide options for decision making;
  • ongoing stakeholder engagement and representing the Assistant Commissioner at internal and external meetings.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • strong communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • ability to research, analyse and compile information for the purpose of presenting reports and recommendations;
  • capability to work both autonomously and collaboratively;
  • innovative approach when it comes to providing solutions and advice on issues;
  • excellent self-management skills, initiative and ability to deliver timely and high-quality outputs;
  • strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality and police values.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Position is located at the Victoria Police Complex, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
