Position Details

 About the role:

This position resides within the Person & Vehicle Information (PVI) unit that is accountable for a number of business critical systems, including the Law Enforcement Assistance Program (LEAP) that underpins most of Victoria Police's business processes. LEAP records crime incidents and other events, and is the database of record for Persons, Vehicles and Locations. It is also used to record charges and court outcomes, and contains a person's criminal history. Other key systems include Images Online (IOL), iFace for facial recognition, Livescan for fingerprints, the Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Information System (ADIDIS-R), the Traffic Incident System (TIS), the Vehicle Impoundment System (VIS), and the National Police Reference System (NPRS) hosted by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). The Person & Vehicle Information unit fits under the Intelligence, Investigation & Analytics domain of the Information Communications & Digital Technology division. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the management of the LEAP product, however may be required to assist the PVI product manager with any of the other applications listed above. The role is essential one of an SME who will advise both business stakeholders and IT service providers on change requests, which could range from maintenance or small enhancements through to major projects such as the replacement of NPRS with a new National Crime Intelligence System (NCIS) being built by ACIC.

Your duties will include:

  1. Shadow and assist the PVI Product Manager with change requests and to ensure these applications remain fit for purpose.
  2. Attention must be given to the technology, ensuring they are continually upgraded to remain on a supportable technology stack.
  3. Enhancements due to legislative changes and business requirements must be delivered using an agile approach to deploy changes in a timely fashion.
  4. The incumbent must facilitate regular meetings with the Product Management Groups and manage stakeholder expectations.
  5. The incumbent must also report on project status using the new ICDT process of a Jira Kanban board.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Position location - The position is located at the Victoria Police Centre. 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
